What’s wrong with lipotourism?
Want to go on a vacation? You might as well have a plastic surgery procedure done while you’re at it… or maybe not.
Lipotourism aka Surgery tourism is a price-driven trend that has experienced increased growth over the past decade. Many patients take unnecessary risks by unknowingly selecting unqualified physicians and take “surgery vacations” to other countries, that promote cheaper procedures in comparison to having these procedures done in the U.S. More often than not, patients have these procedures performed in non-accredited surgical facilities. Many of our patients find us in need of revisions after having botched surgery done out of the country. You can save up to 88% on cosmetic procedures outside the United States. This is very attractive to people who want to enhance their looks but are working on a tight budget.
Saving money may be enticing, but it may cost you more in the long run. After their procedures, some women suffered from infections that led to hospitalization. Even the Center for Disease Control and Prevention published a study highlighting the dangers of lipotourism.
Not such a good deal now, is it? Aren’t you glad there are board-certified plastic surgeons who will never compromise your health and safety.
