Scarless Breast Augmentation Newport Beach
A Discreet Way to Enjoy Fuller Breasts
Despite the popularity of breast enhancement surgeries, one of the most common concerns of women looking to get their breasts enlarged is the possible visible scarring. Not only is it a huge turn-off, but it can also taint their beautiful results after surgery.
Fortunately, breast augmentation advancements have allowed for the development of scarless or transumbilical breast augmentation (TUBA), a technique that lets you enjoy a scar-free breast enhancement.
Continue reading this article to discover a discreet way to increase your breast volume without visible scars around the breasts.
What is Breast Augmentation?
Traditionally, breast augmentation is done by inserting breast implants through incisions surrounding the breasts – around the nipple-areola complex, in the breast crease, or the armpit.
But with transumbilical breast augmentation, you can have your breast implants inserted via endoscopic technology through your belly button.
Also known as endoscopic breast augmentation, TUBA uses an endoscope – a tube with a light and camera attached to it – so that your surgeon can view the inner breasts from the umbilicus without the need for a breast incision.
Hence, it doesn’t produce visible scars around or near the breasts. Instead, it allows both breast implants (saline only) to be inserted using a single incision within the umbilicus.
Even though it’s not entirely scarless, you can still wear the skimpiest of bikinis, and no one could tell that you had your breasts enlarged!
Since 2007, Dr. Agha has performed hundreds of transumbilical breast augmentations both in a subglandular and a submuscular plane. After all, he trained under Dr. Gerald Johnson himself, who pioneered transumbilical breast augmentation in October 1991.
However, take note that this procedure can only be performed using saline breast implants.
What are the Advantages of TUBA?
If you’re thinking of getting breast augmentation with saline implants, you may want to consider TUBA because of the following benefits:
How Does Dr. Agha Perform TUBA?
During your consultation, Dr. Agha will determine if you’re a good candidate for transumbilical breast augmentation. Typically, anyone who is unhappy with their small or disproportionate breasts can get TUBA.
However, it isn’t advisable for those with an abdominal hernia or have undergone extensive abdominal operations.
Once Dr. Agha clears you for TUBA, here’s how he will perform the procedure:
Preparation
Before your surgery, Dr. Agha marks areas of your skin as a guide for implant pocket dissection and the path that the endoscope will follow.
Anesthesia
You will be given general anesthesia so that you’re sedated throughout the whole procedure.
Incision
Dr. Agha makes a small longitudinal incision deep within the navel so that the scar won’t be visible once it heals.
Using specialized instruments, a tunnel is then created from the navel to the breast. He uses a dissector that is passed over or under the breast muscle, depending on whether the implants are placed subglandular or submuscular.
Dr. Agha prefers submuscular placement so that he can provide additional tissue over the implant.
Pocket Dissection
Once the pocket dissection is complete on both sides, a specialized implant expander/sizer is passed through the tunnel into the newly-created pocket.
Once positioned beneath the breast tissue, the expander is inflated to the desired implant volume with sterile saline solution. Dr. Agha also externally molds the breasts into their desired shape during the inflation of the expander.
The patient is then sat up to check for symmetry and pocket shape. Once confirmed, the expanders are removed, and the pockets are inspected with the endoscope. They are washed with a triple antibiotic solution like Dr. Agha’s open breast augmentation surgeries.
Implant Insertion
Dr. Agha then inserts a rolled-up round saline implant into the breast pocket on each side through the abdominal tunnel.
He fills the implants with a sterile saline solution using a closed fill system to ensure absolute sterility of the saline used. He again sits the patient up for a final check to make sure that the breasts look even.
Post-Surgery
Once the implants are filled and the fill tubes are removed, Dr. Agha closes the belly button incision with dissolvable sutures.
You will be wrapped with a light pressure bandage to collapse the tunnels, then allowed to go home with a companion.
