FOREHEAD REDUCTION
BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS – PATIENT 3
Hairline Lowering Procedure
This patient in her early twenties presented to Dr. Siamak Agha at Plastic Surgery Body Contouring Center for a forehead reduction. Also known as hairline lowering surgery, a forehead reduction is a procedure for patients with long forehead.
On Examination by Dr. Agha, the patient was found to have a forehead length of 8.5 cm. The ideal forehead length for a female is between 6.0 to 6.5 cm.
During a 2 ½ hours surgery, Dr. Agha placed an incision just in front of her hairline. The incision is then extended all the way to the skull bone. All the layers of scalp are then elevated over the bone as far back as possible, ideally all the way towards the back of the neck. The scalp is then internally released through a series of parallel incisions to enable the scalp to advance about 1 inch or so. The scalp is then advanced to the incision line and over 1 inch of forehead skin is excised. The incision is then closed in 3 layers.
Post-op pictures were taken at 9 months after her forehead reduction surgery.
